Socrates: ... it has to be considered, that there are two kinds of visual disturbances and two kinds of causes for them: When you come from the light into the dark and when you come from the dark into the light.

Am I awake or am I dreaming? The worlds presented on this peep-show stage are farytaile grotesque, wavering and vulnerable. It is the theatre as a series of magic picture frames, with doubles and human marionettes tumbling out of them in strange clothes; or weird, floating, turning objects full of visual, acoustic and intellectual illusions and irritations. A poetic game with associations familiar to everyone, associations that can nevertheless change direction from one moment to the next. It is a type of theatre in which light, colours and images dance nimbly with one another, provoking the question of whether this world might indeed be the true world and whether we might merely be living in its shadows.

In the piece "Ex Oriente Lux" - From the East Comes the Light - we are playing with the different perceptions of illusion and reality. Deceptions of the human perception have been in Minako Seki's interest for a long time already and inspiring her to a visualization in dance of the interplay of imagination and reality. This time her pondering is starting off with the human brain as an object of illustration. Images, that develop in the right half of the human brain, are not always actively stored and therefore bound to be forgotten. Even though, they create the basis for remembering and association, which Minako Seki will awaken to life in her dance performance. In it she will play with associations, that everybody knows, by unexpectedly leading them in another direction of thoughts the very next moment. A starting point is provided by the raree show ("Guckkastenbühne"), inevitably reminding us of a Punch and Judy show, in which she is evoking chains of grotesque associations in the spectator while taking him on a trip to the respective realm of images.
